POP IT... POP IT... POP IT.... Heeeeey! I finally bit the Colour Pop bullet and got me some goodies! Colour P.O.P 'hol it down!' Okay let me stop playing; on to the swatches:)...
So my goodies came super bubble wrapped, in a good sized pretty, white box. With pink and white splashes of popping-purple color on the inside. On top of that it was pack in a very oversized shipping box! While the extra box might be necessary; it needn't be so big... K? Also in the box were notes on how to use the product and a personalized note just for me...
"Hey Monique, We are gonna call you Dandelion. XOXO Colour Pop"
now that's a way to keep me coming back:)
The lippie stixs feature a white twist-up, pen like packaging. Upon removing the cap the color of the lippie stix is mimicked on the upper half of the packaging, and it's fairly true-to-color. The color in Wet did break as I was swatching though...sigh. This is not my favorite kind of packaging for lipsticks, but I think I'll get over that really quickly!
So I picked up the colors Brink, Wet, Dalia and Feminist
They retail for only $5 a POP(get it?) However you only get a third of the size of typical lipsticks; they only have 1gram or .35oz of product. So if you were to get these at the typical amount you'd get in a lipstick, it would cost about $15! Currently, these are only available on colourpop.com
Brink, Wet, Dalia, Feminist
- Brink is a warm, medium-pink with a matte finish. It has a soft, pleasant vanilla-ish cookie scent. Brink felt heavy, but smooth, with full color upon application and throughout the wear. It wore for well for about 5 hours before I started to lose color from my lower lip. It fully wore off in about 8 hours. I had no drying of my lips; my lips actually felt smoother throughout/after wear.
- Wet is a cool toned, medium taupe, with a pearl finish. It's lightweight and lasted for 4 hours max. I had no drying, nor moisturizing of my lips. It also has the nice vanilla cookie scent. Yum!
- Dalia is a deep, wine red. It has a soft matte finish(slight sheen), though on the colour pop site it's listed as just matte. It had full color payoff, and smooth application, and glided across my lips. Dalia wore for about 4 hours before I lost some color on my lower lip; it wore fully for about 7 hours. I had no drying of my lips. It also has the nice vanilla cookie scent
- Feminist is a blackened purple with a soft matte finish(slight sheen). It also had a smooth application with a full color payoff. It wore for about 5 hours before I started to lose some color on my lower lip, and fully wore off at about 9 hours. I had no drying of my lips; my lips actually felt smoother throughout/after wear.
*Quick Tip: The Lippie Stix will probably be hard to get out of the box that house them. So instead of trying to pry them out; just open both ends and push out the lipstick to the other side. Or you can just shake them out after opening one side:)
LIPPIE PENCIL
Pitch Lippie Pencil
- Pitch is a deep brown color. It had full color payoff upon application and it glided onto my lips. It wore well with the lippie stix and lasted for about 7 hours. It's pretty much like most lip pencils I have, except I had no drying of my lips. I have quite a few lip pencils so I only picked up pitch, which can go with probably all the lippie stix on the Colour Pop site(for my skin-tone).
I say give these a try, and unless you usually go through lipsticks really quickly(I have too many to even attempt this), I wouldn't worry about the amount that is packaged. Plus there's usually a coupon code or so, that can help to offset taxes/shipping costs or just cost in general.
